Adolf Hitler grew up as a very dominant, malevolent child with slim passing grades in school. When Adolf's brother, Edmund, was six, he died painfully from measles. Adolf started to become abusive towards his family and almost everyone that he walked by. His sister once wrote in her diary, " Adolf challenged Father and got thrashed around, but Mom still caressed him." She also wrote once, " Adolf punched me again and left a huge bruise on me... about two inches big" (Hitler, 2012) The whole family did poorly, but Hitler really showed it in his grades. According to the History Learning Site of the United Kingdom, these were Adolf's grades when he was around 13 years old:
French- Unsatisfactory Geography- Satisfactory
German- Adequate Gymnastics- Excellent
History- Satisfactory Physics- Adequate
Mathematics- Unsatisfactory Art- Excellent
Chemistry- Adequate Geometry- Adequate
Hitler was barely passing, yet his caring mother supported Adolf no matter what and that was why their bond was very tight. On the other hand, Alois Hitler was an abusive father towards his children and completely shunned Adolf for his very poor grades. Soon Alois passed away suddenly and being the eldest male, Adolf became the man of the house. He managed to earn some money on the side and his mom, Klara, would obtain some from house- sitting and washing clothes. Together, they pulled through the years until every child would leave and start lives somewhere else (Trueman, 2015)
